About the game
A little town shop where time and money click
Clock & Coins is a free game for grades 1–3 set in a little town shop. One counter has a clock tower, the other a cash drawer — pick Clocks or Coins, choose a level, and practice in short, cheerful rounds.
What it is
- 🕰️ Clocks — reading analog clocks, setting the hands yourself, and working out elapsed time: what time will it be in 45 minutes?
- 🪙 Coins — the penny, nickel, dime and quarter: naming them, counting mixed coins, paying exact amounts, and making change from $1, $2 and $5.
- Stars for every level. Each level earns up to three stars, and your stars are saved on the device — no accounts, nothing sent anywhere.
How to play
- Pick a counter, then a level. Every round is eight questions. You always get two tries: a hint after the first miss, and a short explanation of the answer after the second.
- Clocks, four levels: Hour & half hour · Five minutes · Set the clock (move the hands with the +/− hour and 5-minute buttons) · Elapsed time.
- Coins, four levels: Know your coins · Count the coins · Make the amount (tap coins into the tray to pay exactly — using the fewest coins earns a special cheer) · Making change.
- Gentle scoring. A correct answer on the first try is worth 2 points, on the second try 1 point. The results screen shows your points and stars, with buttons to play again or move to the next level.
Skills and classroom notes
- Standards. Built around Common Core 1.MD.B.3 (telling time to the hour and half hour), 2.MD.C.7 (time to the nearest five minutes), 2.MD.C.8 (money word problems) and 3.MD.A.1 (elapsed time).
- Beginner-friendly coins. The coin pictures are simplified drawings — not real coin designs — with the value printed right on each coin, and a coin guide sits under the Coins levels for reference.
- Real strategies. Counting starts with the biggest coins first, and making change is taught by counting up from the price to the amount paid.
- Free, always. No ads, no sign-up, nothing to buy. Progress is stored only in this browser.
