About Critter Sort
Critter Sort is a free animal science game for grades K–5. An animal appears; you decide which crate it belongs in — flyers or swimmers? fur or feathers? — and every correct sort teaches a fact about the animal. It’s part of The Active Home, a small collection of free learning games and activities for families.
The four levels
Little Explorer (grades K–1) — how it moves, what covers it, count the legs.
Field Scout (grades 2–3) — what it eats, animal groups, egg or live birth.
Nature Ranger (grades 3–4) — where it lives, more animal groups, warm or cold blood.
Wildlife Expert (grades 4–5) — backbone or not, Who am I?, and a mixed challenge.
Play Critter SortThe Field Guide
Every sorted animal joins your Field Guide — 42 animals to collect, each with a fun fact to read. Animal pictures are the standard emoji drawn by your device, so they look a little different on each phone; the questions and facts are original to The Active Home.
Privacy, in short
Critter Sort has no ads, no accounts, and no tracking, and progress is kept on your own device only. The one site-wide policy covers the whole of The Active Home: Privacy Policy.
