About Word Workshop

Word Workshop is a free spelling and phonics game for grades K–5. Kids build words from letter tiles — and every finished word assembles a piece of a little robot in a cozy workshop. It's part of The Active Home, a small collection of free learning games and activities for families.

The four benches (levels)

Sprout (grades K–1) — first sounds, short CVC words, missing vowels, rhymes, and first sight words.

Builder (grades 1–2) — letter teams (sh, ch, th), blends, silent e, plurals, and trickier sight words.

Engineer (grades 2–3) — vowel teams, -ed and -ing endings, compound words, syllables, and spelling the word that fits a sentence.

Inventor (grades 4–5) — prefixes and suffixes, look-alike words (their/there), contractions, tricky spellings, and spelling a word from its meaning.

Gentle by design

There's no timer and no losing. Wrong taps get a friendly nudge and another try, finished robots join the workshop, and a journal keeps the collection. A round takes a couple of minutes — easy to fit before dinner or between other work.

Privacy, in short

Word Workshop has no ads, no accounts, and no tracking, and progress is kept on your own device only. The one site-wide policy covers the whole of The Active Home: Privacy Policy.
